What is A Concealed Weapon Permit and Why Do I Need One?
AZ CCW stands for Arizona Carry Concealed Weapon. In some areas of the United States these gun permits or "license to carry" a concealed weapon (AZ ccw) are referred to as a CWP ( Arizona Concealed Weapon Permit) or simply a "carry license". Currently, more than 45 states have adopted some form of AZ CCW law that allows its citizen's (provided that they are not a prohibited possessor, like a convicted felon) to conceal and carry a handgun (or other weapons, depending on the state) for personal protection outside of their home or place of business. Most of these states have AZ CCW laws that are considered Shall Issue and they make it reasonably simple for any law-abiding adult to get a concealed carry handgun, firearm or weapon permit. In all cases, the statistics have proven that allowing law-abiding citizens to carry a concealed weapon is a direct deterrent against criminal activity and makes our streets safer. Not knowing if your next victim will be armed can be a scary proposition for the average street-punk criminal.
Arizona, requires that AZ CCW applicants pass an approved firearms safety course (AZ CCW Class) before they will be issued a concealed weapon permit (AZ CCW). The AZ ccw Class is a firearms safety course designed to provide a general introduction to firearms and pistol shooting. The AZ CCW Clsss curriculum includes detailed instruction in Firearms Safety, Types of Firearms, Firearm and Ammunition Selection, Firearm Maintenance, Mental Conditioning, Concealed and Open Carry Methods, Range Qualification, Personal Protection, Non-Lethal Force Options, Conditions and circumstances associated with the use of Lethal Force and Arizona ccw Law and the legal issues related to Concealed Weapons Carry (az ccw).
Since Arizona adopted its "shall issue" concealed weapon law in 1994, there has been a decrease in the number of crimes, especially violent crimes, and that has been the case in all 45+ states with similar concealed carry laws. As in many other states, Arizona will issue a permit to any non-resident who completes the 8 hour az ccw class and is not otherwise prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm (never been convicted of a felony).
Most crimes are committed far from any law enforcement agency or police officer. The police just can't be everywhere at all times. It's up to the good citizens of the United States to protect themselves. With a little bit of training and knowledge, prevention and avoidance of criminal contact can be accomplished by most anyone.
