8 Hour CCW Introductory classes
To qualify for an Arizona CCW permit under ARS 13-3112, you must:
- Be a United States citizen, or a resident alien with a valid "green card" and show proof of 90 days continuous residency in the State of Arizona.
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Not be under indictment for and have never been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.*
- Not suffer from mental illness and never have been adjudicated mentally incompetent or committed to a mental institution
- Not be unlawfully present in the United States
- Satisfactorily complete the 8 hour firearms safety training program approved by the department of public safety
Exempt from the 8 hour classroom requirements:
- Active duty Arizona P.O.S.T. certified peace officer
- Active duty Federally credentialed peace officer
- Honorably retired federal, state or local peace officer (or judge) with a minimum of 10 years of service
- An active duty county detention officer who has been weapons certified by an employing agency.
