Hour CCW renewal class

The 2 hour CCW renewal class is no longer required to renew an Arizona CCW permit; and, after December 31, 2007, fingerprinting will no longer be required to renew a permit so long as the permit is renewed on time.

You may apply to renew a CCW permit up to 90 days prior to the expiration date on your current CCW permit. You also have up to 60 days after your concealed carry permit expires in which you can renew your CCW permit without penalty, but you cannot carry a weapon concealed until your new CCW permit arrives. If you wait beyond the 60 day grace period allowed by law, you will have to take the 8 hour introductory course again.

Currently the Arizona CCW permit is valid for five years.  To renew a CCW permit AFTER December 31, 2007 simply send in a completed renewal application and a $43.00 cashiers check or money order. Fingerprinting is NOT required after December 31, 2007 and as a result the application fee has been reduced (starting January 1, 2008).

If the Arizona Department of Public Safety has your correct mailing address, you should receive a renewal packet in the mail approximately 60 days prior to the expiration date on your current CCW permit. Arizona CCW permit holders are required by law to notify DPS in writing within ten days if they move or change their address! If you did not receive a renewal packet from the Arizona Department of Public Safety within 60 days of your permit expiration, call (800) 256-6280 and ask them to send you one.
